Literature Text

1) O Jerusalem, O Jerusalem,
2) You, who stones her prophets,
3) Who eats her prodigal sons-
4) If you had known, even now,
5) How often I have longed
6) To gather your children together
7) As hens take their brood under wing,
8) And you would turn away!
9) Behold, your house is left as a grave,
10) And assuredly I say to you,
11) You shall not see me again,
12) Until the time comes when you say
13) 'Blessed is he that comes

This was inspired by Eric Whitacre's "When David Heard", and based on Luke 13:34, which I had gotten confused with Luke 19:42-44. Make sense? Probably not. As for the music, it was intended for the voice, to be sung/chanted at a slow/natural pace.

((6/17/21 UPDATE: For a long time I'd had an attempt at sheet music here in the description, but decided to go with the more accurate version I did with MuseScore, which I'll link to here: Score! I'd linked to a video on my personal Twitter, which I've since deleted, and just now linked to the score on the MS website instead.
